Earning her MA in Art at Goldsmiths, Sarah Baker is an artist who lives and works in London. Baker’s primary artistic affair is with the branded images used for promoting and packaging established celebrities. This interest has led to Baker’s development of her own monogram and through her performances, video pieces, and photographs, has created an entirely real brand of herself.

Collaborating with top designers and photographers, Baker takes her art to a wider audience by creating bespoke features in various magazines, such as Stimulus Respond, Wound, Useless, Vague Paper, Amelia’s and Under/Current, all published out of London.  This publicity in itself is part of the faux-celebrity Sarah Baker stratagem.

But it’s not all about her.  When she’s not working on the Sarah Baker mogul, she’s working with more established ones: Jackie Collins, Wes Studi, and Peaches, to name a few. Baker’s project “Studs” (2008) was a joint effort between Studi, Collins, and herself and ended up being hailed by The Times as one of the top five exhibitions among Freud, Warhol, and Bacon.

Baker has spoken about her artistic intent publicly at institutions like the Serpentine Gallery and Sotheby’s Institute in both London and Manhattan among other Art Colleges. Baker exhibited, performed and screened at public institutions in the UK such as V&A Museum, ICA, Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, and Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens in Belgium, where she had a solo show in 2005. Baker has shown work internationally with some of her favorite artists namely Pippoloti Rist (One of Us Cannot Be Wrong, Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne, Australia, 2008), Cindy Sherman (Boost in the Shell, DeBond, Bruges, Belgium, 2005), and Franz West (When The Mood Strikes, Collection of Wifried and Yannicke Cooreman, Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, Ghent, Belgium, 2009).

While contemplating future artworks, Baker enjoys reading romance novels, baking cakes, watching murder mysteries, and drinking perfect Manhattans.
